A massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean nearby North-eastern Japan at around 2:46pm on March 11 (JST) causing damage with blackouts, fire and tsunami.
The large earthquake has also triggered a tsunami warnings for countries all around the Pacific ocean.
Over the last 24 hours we have been trying to contact Japan via D-STAR. As yet we have had no response. We will continue to try and make contact.
In Japan they are still running G1 Software on their D-STAR gateways so contacting stations is a little more difficult.
Here is an example of how you would link to a gateway in Japan.
Programming for talking on GB7YD (port DV C) to JP3YHJ (port DV B)
> YOUR: /JP3YHJB
> RPT1: GB7YD▪▪C
> RPT2: GB7YD▪▪G
> MY: M0SYR
Another thing to remember when making a call is to ask the other stations that may be listening to press the one touch button to route back to you.
