2820 ICF file for download

The South Yorkshire Repeater Group now has for download via the Charity Shop an icf file for the 2820.

Included are all the UK VHF/2m and UHF/70cms repeaters in alphabetical order, followed by the same format for UK Digital Nodes. Obviously being based in God’s home county and biased towards GB7YD there are memories options to link GB7YD to any of the currently available reflectors.

We hope that everyone enjoys this usefull file for when mobile with a 2820.

The file is free for download and available to all, many thanks to Ian – M6DER for taking the time out to put this one together.

The travelling road-show that is South Yorkshire Repeater Group are pleased to announce that they will be standing at the Rotherham Show on September 11/12th. The Rotherham Show is a FREE event with up-to 20,000 visitors expected. More details to follow in a separate post. TV series invites amateur radio enthusiasts

RSGB News reports that the producers of a forthcoming TV series are inviting amateur radio enthusiasts and others to take part.

“The show revolves around a souped-up double decker bus which is touring cities around Britain. Producers are looking for single people aged between 18 and 30 to take part and are particularly keen to hear from people with any sort of talent to show off. Described as a sort of Blind Date on a bus, you can get more information by emailing dating<at>carbonhq.com or by calling 0207 324 0744″.

Oh imagine a bus full of amateurs YIPPEE what a revelation. Not such a great idea we thinks?

Further investigation reveals no grounding to the story whatsoever and that they are no more looking for radio hams than they are single badgers.

Ham radio and D-Star to get boost from TV sitcom

The ABC Television series, “Last Man Standing” is about Mike Baxter (played by Tim Allen), a marketing executive for “Outdoor Man,” a fictitious sporting goods store in Colorado. Mike, is a “man’s man” and involved in all kinds of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating. Likewise, Mike (and Tim) has a love for all the electronics that go with these activities. Among Mike’s interests is Amateur Radio (Ham Radio). Tim's character (Mike Baxter), is KA0XTT. This is a call sign the show cleared for use on air. "XTT" is a bit of a private joke as Tim's character name on "Home Improvement" was Tim Taylor. So, ex T. T. In the show’s radio inventory is currently an ICOM IC-9100 HF radio, an IC-92AD dual band, hand-held, a Heil PR-781microphone, a Daiwa CN-801HP SWR/Power meter a Comet CAA-500 antenna analyzer and a Iambic CW Paddle.
