Its that time of year again folks….
This years D-Star contest gets under-way this Saturday 19th June 2010(midnight) and runs till Saturday 27th June 2010 (midnight).
There are some good prizes up for grabs also, including an IC-80AD and the popular E880 with 8 prizes in all for the taking.
Even if you have never entered a competition before or don’t like analogue competitions why not give this one a go, with prizes like that its got to be worth a shot.
The rules are simple you can use repeater or simplex DV mode and so there is plenty to work.
for more information and the rules see the icom site d-star comp
If you are entering this year – why not drop us a message so we can listen out for you and see how your doing.
good luck & 73s SYRG

SYRG would like to extend their regards to Swinton Youth Club…
and all it’s members that we had the good fortune to meet earlier this evening.
Called in by the Youth Club assistants, after one spotted M6DER dropping his kids at school whilst chatting to Japan one morning. We had a warm welcome from kids and adults alike with all interested in ‘havin a go on the walkie talkies’
Special thanks go to KD4RUU George in Florida for having a short QSO with the eager youngsters on Ref001C.
Thankfully the link dropped before one of the youngsters told George he was off to smoke a doobie!
Dear ME, kids…who’d ave em? A pleasant Weds evening out to spread the word of amateur radio lead to a few new recruits and the potential for another set of new hams.
