Jet-Set Ernie off on another mission !

This week we sent the intrepid G4LUE – ERNIE off to the states for the Dayton Hamvention.

Look out for the pictures this year in the gallery on his return. For those that cannot wait for Ernie to develop his pictures the event can also be viewed live via WA5KUB helmet cam – another fantastic ustreamer!

The Dayton Hamvention that takes place every year is widely considered to be one of the largest HamFests in the world.
Using the call sign W/G4LUE Ernie can be heard working D-Star and will bring back with him all the latest news and gossip. Again an example of how South Yorkshire Repeater Group is helping to form international links with amateurs world wide.
The largest companies attend the Dayton Hamvention with Kenwood already announcing 3 new radios for 2010 to be launched at the hamvention. We look forward to hearing the news from all the attendee’s and particularly any news from the DVAP chappies ;-)

Dayton Hamvention 2010

The time is almost upon us for the Dayton Hamvention 2010.

SYRG’s international representative G4LUE shall be undertaking the arduous task of visiting the Hamvention and reporting back to the group on latest developments in the world of amateur radio.

We have just received word that the W8BI, D-Star enabled node, will be hooked up to Reflector 30B for the duration of the event. Users are asked  “If you would like to follow the D-Star activity in Dayton over Hamvention® weekend, please use a linked repeater or link your DVDongle/DVAPdongle to 30-B reflector. Please do not link directly to the W8BI gateway.”

G4LUE will be available via the D-Star network throughout his trip and may even be streaming video live from his iphone to this website.

The event can also be viewed live via WA5KUB helmet cam – another fantastic ustreamer ;-)
