School looking for worldwide D-Star contacts

D-Star at school….

A Norfolk school in the village of Gresham, will be running an amateur radio special event station utilising the D-Star digital network.

The date of the event is 23rd May 2012 and the callsign will be GB2GVS (Gresham Village School). The children are aged 6 to 11.

Andy, 2E0AIV says:

“We have arranged link-ups with schools in Northern Ireland, USA and England, but we are looking for more countries and schools to participate.

If anyone is interested, they can contact me 2e0aiv Andy at 2e0avi@2e0aiv.co.uk

“The Children of today are the future generation of Electronic experts and Amateur Radio Operators, and we feel that this is an opportunity to engage with youngsters to the benefit of all.”

2010 Dayton D-STAR Friday Afternoon Forum

2010 Dayton D-STAR Friday Afternoon Forum

Courtesty of ARVN and Gary Pearce, KN4AQ

ARVN are currently working on the footage they shot at the 2011 (and 2010) Hamventions now.

Here’s the first program out of the editor – it’s the entire 2010 D-STAR Friday Afternoon Forum.

This will be on a DVD, probably along with the 2011 Forum, and the DVD will have a chaper index that  can’t be done on YouTube.

This is the whole forum – almost 90 minutes worth.

It features:

Robin Cutshaw AA4RC on the DVDongle, DVAP and DPLUS

Dan Smith KK7DS on D-RATS

David Lake G4ULF on building non-ICOM D-STAR repeaters

Visit http://www.arvideonews.com/Dayton/index.html for more from Dayton 2011.

Many thanks to Gary Pearce, KN4AQ and ARVN for this very informative video.
