Direct Callsign Routing on D-STAR

D-STAR is unlike other modes in that it has the added functionality of routing.

Not only can you route to another D-STAR node or open up a D-STAR reflector but you can route to a specific callsign.

These are the settings you would use if you want to get in contact with a station, but don’t know what system they are on. The system will pick up their callsign from where they last made a TX and route your connection to them.

On hearing you they will then have to hit their “One touch reply” to make the route back to you and have the QSO.

Example Settings
M0SYR wants to call G0CJM direct.

MYCALL – M0SYR
URCALL – G0CJM
RPT1 – GB7YD**C (Note that the ‘C is in position 8 )
RPT2 – GB7YD **G (Note that the ‘G’ is in position 8 )

In this example and at this moment in time you would link through to GB7RW where G0CJM would hear you call.

Have a go yourself at direct routing and if you get stuck just ask!

Have fun!
