Yes folks its that time again. The first Thursday of every month come rain or shine, fireworks, flames, hell or high water the regulars will be at the Three Horseshoes in Brierley from lets say 7:30pm.

We shall be bringing along an icom 880 for people to have a touchy feely session.

We are sure he’ll have a whole hard disk full of them for all to look at, if bikes are your thing. If you are more into history (which looking at some of these photos you might well be!!!), our friend at Brierley Village has for years run a great site of local interest.

The BRIERLEY VILLAGE WEBSITE is good way to spend your coffee break finding out about the area in which GB7YD is situated.

Look forward to seeing faces old and new for a very informal meeting.

Bye bye 2009! Welcome 2010!

As 2009 comes to its end, SYRG would like to wish you happy new year and the best for 2010.

It’s been a very good but busy 2009 and we hope that it’s been a good year for you too. In the new year we have many other projects planned for you to join in and the family too!

South Yorkshire Repeater Group relies on donations by its users on our repeater network and web site. Without this, none of this would have been possible in 2009.

We would like to thank you for your contribution this year and we urge you to dig deep to help us next year in 2010. Find out about making a donation here.

Ham radio and D-Star to get boost from TV sitcom

The ABC Television series, “Last Man Standing” is about Mike Baxter (played by Tim Allen), a marketing executive for “Outdoor Man,” a fictitious sporting goods store in Colorado. Mike, is a “man’s man” and involved in all kinds of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating. Likewise, Mike (and Tim) has a love for all the electronics that go with these activities. Among Mike’s interests is Amateur Radio (Ham Radio). Tim's character (Mike Baxter), is KA0XTT. This is a call sign the show cleared for use on air. "XTT" is a bit of a private joke as Tim's character name on "Home Improvement" was Tim Taylor. So, ex T. T. In the show’s radio inventory is currently an ICOM IC-9100 HF radio, an IC-92AD dual band, hand-held, a Heil PR-781microphone, a Daiwa CN-801HP SWR/Power meter a Comet CAA-500 antenna analyzer and a Iambic CW Paddle.
