Tracking Using D-STAR with APRS

Using the HM-175GPS microphone on the IC-E92D or the GPS on IC-E2820H and IC-E2820 you can broadcast your current position via the D-Star repeater network.

Yes that’s right, when you are telling the XYL that you are just popping out to buy a loaf of bread and some milk she can track you live now all the way to your local radio emporium!

Err…maybe that’s not such a good thing, but the GPS functions of these radios and the APRS system have integrated well with D-STAR Gateway Systems.

One good use is for disaster communications as  it provides an excellent way of keeping tabs on where your resources are deployed as realtime GPS positioning can be sent with every transmission.
